The 2014 Bourgogne Rouge, from two vineyards, one tucked just below Clos Vougeot and the other in Morey Saint Denis in Chaponnières averaging around 50-years in age, had only just finished its malolactic fermentation. It has quite a tight black cherry and blueberry-scented bouquet, a hint of crushed violet in the background. The palate is bold and forthright with sappy black fruit, a nice saline touch in the mouth with a controlled, quite citrus-fresh finish.

About The Winery
Extends over four generations now, the Domaine Robert Groffier is widely considered as one of the finest winemakers in the Côte d’Or region of Burgundy. With just over five hectares of top-quality vineyards, including the highly coveted Grands Crus Bonnes-Mares and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Groffier boasts excellent terroir which produces some of the region’s best wines. The time and effort Serge Groffier gives to the vineyards is paying back handsomely and correspondingly low yields have produced sought-after wines of real pedigree and class.
