Domaine Denis Mortet, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Champeaux 2012
The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Champeaux has a complex bouquet with maraschino, fresh strawberry, cold stone and orange rind that unfolds in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, slightly chalky in texture with firm backbone. There is a hint of white pepper loitering at the sides of the mouth, the finish assertive and demonstrative, lingering long like a grand cru.

About The Winery
Set up in 1956 with only a single hectare of vines, Charles the father, and Denis the son have look after the family estate together. In northern Burgundy’s Gevrey-Chambertin, where winemaking goes back to Roman times, Arnaud Mortet of Domaine Denis Mortet is a young vigneron, a third-generation winemaker who took over the family vineyards at age 26. He learned winemaking from his father, the legendary Denis Mortet, an intuitive craftsman who worked the land by himself. He was very quickly involved in bringing up a sustainable environment to Burgundy wines.
